How We Actually Rate a Game

How We Actually Rate a Game

August 17, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

Our ratings run from 3.8 to 4.9, and yes, that's a deliberately narrow range. We don't cover games we'd score below that, because writing takedowns of tiny studios isn't why we started this.

A score here isn't a math formula. It's a conversation. We play, we compare notes, and we argue until we land on a number that matches how we actually feel. If two of us disagree hard, that tension usually ends up in the review itself.

We weigh how a game feels in the hand more than how it looks in a trailer. Controls, pacing, and whether it respects your time carry a lot of weight for us.

So treat our numbers as one opinion from people who played the thing, not a verdict from on high. Read the actual words — that's where the real review lives.
